Merry Christmas

Mom had surgery Monday. They found one small tear in the membrane above one of the nerves he repaired it but didn't think that could be causing all the pain. So he did some blood testing and checked for spinal fluid leakage. The fluid was fine. Did you know the ansethiologist can make you cough?!?! Wierd! Her blood test came back funny. Normal was 12 for infection level and hers was 85. They think she may have gotten a staff infection from the original surgery. She got out of the hospital Christmas eve with a pic line. She has to go the the hospital twice a day for 6 weeks for antibiotic treatments. Hopefully this cures the problem. After countless call my Dad and I finally convinced my Mom and stupid sisters to postpone Christmas until Sunday so Mom could get some rest. So yesterday afternoon John ran to the store before they closed and picked up ham for dinner today at home. Abby found a mysterious gift from Santa dropped off at 4pm Christmas eve. She read the letter saying Santa's sleigh was too full so he thought he would drop off one gift for the family tonight. So we opened the Wii. She was so excited. We set it up and started to play. She got really frustrated because she is stubborn and "knows how to do everything" but wasn't getting it. We were then regretting getting it. But she finally caught on today and is the lead in bowling. She bowled a 203 today! We also played Mario Kart today and that is hilarious! We all love that one. She made a haul today. She loves her pink guitar and her MP3 player. She has been walking around with it on all day. Well I am beat. Rhonda and Gregg come tomorrow. Hopefully everything is ready. I am going to bed! Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

Week from HELL!

We got over 10 inches of snow Thursday night/Friday. We have beyond frigid temps. My Grandmothers Christmas was cancelled due to white out conditions and my Mom was taken to the hospital by ambulance! My Mom had back surgery shortly before Thanksgiving. They had to fuse part of her lower back together. They told her recovery would be about 6 months. My Mom is not one to lay still so I am sure she has not followed all of the doctors instructions. She seemed to be doing ok until she started to get this pain down her leg. She thought she had over done it with Christmas shopping. So she tried to take it easy and then Friday night she couldn't even walk the pain was so bad. Dad called the ambulance. She was taken to the hospital and did an MRI. They thought spinal fluid had leaked or she had an infection. If it was infection she would have to have surgery and they would have to scrape the infection off. UGH! They first tried by using a needle to remove some of the spinal fluid. They would then test the spinal fluid for bacteria. So Saturday they did that. By Saturday evening she was feeling no difference. Sunday she got the test results back that there was no bacteria in the spinal fluid. So now she is going back into surgery tomorrow to find out what is going on. So I am going to try to get off work early tomorrow to run and see her. She told the DR she didn't care what he did as long as she was home for Christmas. DR told her that she shouldn't count on that. My Mom is a Chrismas fanatic, as you know! We are suppose to go there Christmas day. So now I have no idea what is going on and I LIVE by a plan! We were not able to go over to see her all weekend due to the white out. UGH! I HATE WINTER! Friday Rhonda and Gregg are coming and staying until Sunday. We have Christmas here on Saturday. I feel I have 10,000 things left to do and I am running out of time. All the presents are wrapped and everything is decorated. Groceries are bought so I am sure we will survive but the house is not perfect. I know no body will care if they find a crumb on the carpet or that not all trash containers are not completely empty but I do! Plus AF is starting and I don't have time for her either! BAH HUMBUG!

I hate winter!

I know it is only beginning but boy I hate this. We currently have a windchill of 23 BELOW zero! We have 49mph wind gusts with snow. All week is suppose to be cold and miserable. I need to move where it is 70 all year round!

Yesterday Abby had cheerleading camp. This is her second year and she has so much fun. Plus is gave John and I time to run some errands and finish last minute Christmas shopping. We have all the gifts bought just needed to pick up stocking stuffers and some finishing touches. After her performance we drove to a nearby town that has Santaland. We met Rhonda and Gregg there and had supper and then went through Santaland and stopped to see Santa. This is the first year we have gone up there and I think we will make it a tradition. It was so nice and Abby was enthralled. Then today we got hit with the frigid wind and snow so we are homebound. We are all actually still in our pajamas!

Tuesday is Abby's Christmas concert. Then this weekend we travel to my grandparents for their Christmas.

Christmas Shopping is done!!!

Well mostly done! I still need to pick up a couple things for John but otherwise we are done. John conquered the crowds of Black Friday and picked up some deals. Then we drove to Sioux City and finished everything else. I am so glad we are done! We decorated Saturday and I got some wrapping done today.
Abby is getting pretty excited but the rate she is going I will be returning a bunch of Christmas presents! The sass is non stop and always have to go one step further than she should. I can only imagine what the teenage years will be like. I will need therapy!
Well I better get to bed before that early alarm clock goes off. UGH! Back to work after a long weekend sucks!

Halloween

We went to John's sisters house for Halloween. We normally just hit the mall and a couple friends houses. This year we went house to house in Rhonda's town. Boy did she make a hall! I always buy a medium size gift bag for her treats and we had to empty it 3 times because it was too heavy! Way too much candy!!!

Flip Flop Withdrawl

I think Abby needs therapy! We live in Nebraska and weather changes at the drop of the hat. We have had a unusually warm fall so Abby has still been wearing flip flops until about 2 weeks ago. I told her that it was time to put them away and start wearing her tennis shoes. She threw a fit! "I love my flip flops!" She has about 15 pair and lived in them all summer. I swear every morning she asks what the temp was going to be so she can see if it will be warm enough for flip flops.

The wedding was nice. I will post a few pics....

The camera---Is the new Kodak 14.3MP. It takes HD pics and video. I love it!!! It is my birthday gift from John.

The safe haven law---Nebraska never had one until the one that went active this summer. Except they forgot to put an age limit. So parents have been dropping off teenagers at the hospitals in Omaha. They are suppose to be having a special session to fix it. But it has been a big joke around here. Nebraska is becoming the dumping zone. Even some Mom from Michigan dropped off her 14 year old last week.
Well the anxiety for Abby is getting better. She goes to see the counselor every Tuesday with a few other girls. We have parent teacher conferences on Monday. So I am sure we will how she is doing at school. Hopefully it is a lot better than her attitude at home. At home Abby has been horrible! She is sassy, arguementative, and just plain rude! What happened to the nice little Abby I gave birth to? If we tell her no for any reason we get to listen to her scream at the top of her lungs "HMMMM You just don't want me to have any fun!" Yep that is our plan. Take all the fun out of her life! Nebraska's messed up safe haven law looks better and better each day! JK!

We survived my sisters wedding! It is finally over and we are all married! It turned out nice and even though not everything went perfectly she still ended up married. Shocking I know!

John is calling me spoiled. I ordered another new camera! Yes this is my 4th camera in 3 years! :) But I love it and it was on SALE!!!! I will post some pics shortly.

Well the laundry monster is calling so I better continue with it as soon as I post some pics....

Anxiety at the age of 7!?!?!

Ok now our problem....
Abby is suffering from some serious anxiety! I don't know if it is the new school year or the fact I was gone for a week for work. She doesn't want to school because she misses us too much. She complains of her stomach hurting. She is attached to my hip! We are about to go crazy. We are taking it one day at a time. She was even leary about going back to dance. She loved dance! But she went and it was all new girls, except the teacher, but a couple of the girls were pretty outgoing and started talking to Abby. She seemed to have fun. I just hope this ends soon! If anybody has any suggestions I am totally open!

Golden Birthday!

Ok--I have found out that not everybody celebrates nor knows what a Golden birthday is. It was a huge deal in my family. If it was your golden birthday your party was a huge ordeal. A Golden birthday is when you turn 7 on the 7th or 13 on the 13th. So this was Abby's Golden Birthday. First of all I can't believe it has been seven years! I know I say that every year but OMG! She is 7! Saturday we had her friend party or you could call it a Hannah Montana Extravaganza! We had it at the Y. She invited 9 BFF's and they all showed. The invitations were concert tickets. They turned out so cute. I will post an example. they swam and played on scooters. Then we did gifts and cake. We gave out the goody bags and I am sure the screams were heard all over. They were all so excited. They got all Hannah Monana stuff...pencils, pencil sharpners, tatoos, personalize candy bars, and a watch. Plus lots of candy.

Then Sunday we had the entire family over. She raked it in as usual.

Let's try this again....

Ok things have been insane! It has been nearly a hear since I have been on. Life has been hectic. My job has been crazy and it never seems to calm down. John also just received a promotion, he is now the supervisor for the intake and investigation unit. YAH HUBBY!! He deserves it and I am so proud of him. Abby starts the 2nd grade tomorrow!!! I can't believe she is going into the 2nd grade. What happened to my little baby? But by talking to her you would think she was a teenager! I swear I hate the sassy mouth! I thought we had time before that started. Boy was I wrong! She also just got her first pair of glasses. She is not really liking them but we are hopeful she will get used to them. She was a flower girl in May. She looked so cute. She really looked like a little princess. But my little princess has decided she is beyond the princess stage and now she is a Hannah Montana Rock Star princess. YIKES!! She is so into Hannah Montana. We had to take the princess stuff down in her room and hang up Hannah Montana posters. She is having a Hannah Montana birthday party. We even made invitations to look like concert tickets. She is also very big into stlye. She is constantly telling me what is cool and what is not. Her new favorite phrase is "That is sweet!

Ok that is a quick catch up. I will post pics....
